During our first meeting, I strive to hear the parent’s reading concerns. School work samples are always welcome. I will also assess your child’s skills to tailor the tutoring to their needs.
Students do not overcome reading struggles overnight. Practicing and mastering phonics takes time. I will provide extra exercises for students to work on mastering new skills at home.
Each child is as different and unique as their reading journey. I cannot in good faith estimate how many weeks your child will need tutoring to grow into a fluent reader.
Sessions may seem easy for your child at first. We start with skills they may already know so we can build toward mastery. This stage also allows me to build rapport with your child.
Parents may stay in the tutoring room. There is a couch and chairs close to the tutoring area. Please limit distractions during the session.
